TRUST US when we say that pickled jalapeño definitely belongs in a margarita. When we asked Victoria McAbee of Whimsy Official and Studio Amie what flavours she would like in her customized cocktail, we got SO excited for the opportunity to create one of our fave libations with a spicy twist. This margarita is packed with fresh, flavourful mint, and gets its kick from pickled jalapeños and a chilli-salt rim. Alright, enough gabbin’, let’s make some cocktails!
The City Limits Mint Margarita with Jalapeño
1.5 oz oz tequila blanco
1 oz orange liqueur
3 oz lime fresh lime juice
0.25 oz agave syrup
1 tbsp pickled jalapeño slices (plus additional for garnish)
2 tsp pickled jalapeño brine
1 tbsp fresh mint leaves
Lime wheels (for rim & garnish)
Smoked chili & coarse kosher salt for rimming (optional)
Fresh mint sprig (for garnish)
- Add tequila, orange liquor, lime juice, agave, jalapeño slices, brine and mint leaves to mixing glass. Muddle jalapeño slices and mint to infuse tequila. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Run lime wheel evenly around the rim of serving glass, combine smoked chili and salt (if using). Dip serving glass into salt mixture to adhere.
- Add ice to serving glass. Pour tequila mixture over top, and garnish with additional lime wheel, pickled jalapeño and mint sprig.
